Important information about IMO 2020 (03.06.2020)
The progress of the covid-19 pandemic is such that travel to St Petersburg in September 2020 will be very difficult. We have therefore decided that IMO2020 will be a virtual event, with countries and territories sitting the papers in their own countries on September 21-22 2020. Details of the arrangements will be published at https://imo2020.ru/ on or before June 30th 2020 (and subject to possible revisions as time passes).

There will be virtual Opening and Closing ceremonies, and medals will be distributed by post.

The current revised Annual Regulations for IMO2020 will be subject to a second revision to facilitate the sitting of a virtual IMO, and these will be published at the IMO official website on or before June 30 2020 (the reason for the delay is because discussions are taking place concerning virtual IMO protocols which may need to be mentioned in the Annual Regulations).

It is hoped that almost all countries and territories will be able to hold their national IMO exam in a single location. However, if there are countries where the pandemic is very bad in September 2020, then other arrangements may be necessary. On no account should anyone endanger their health to sit IMO2020 exams.
